Puebla was the first stop on my two collegiate spring break / group study abroad trips to Mexico, and both times we spent the first 3 nights at this Best Western Plus hotel. Thankfully, our two professors were pretty fluent in the Spanish language, which allowed us to quickly check in (though if we needed anything the next 2 days, we had to use our broken Spanish to communicate or hope for an English speaker to be working that shift). The lobby is huge, with many multi-colored chairs throughout. I do not believe there is a staircase from the lobby floor to the the room floors, though I may be mistaken, so the elevator is all you get. When you get to your assigned floor, the hallways are poorly lit, so take it easy navigating your way. The rooms are pretty nice, especially for the affordable price. If I remember correctly, the TV was always fuzzy, so we never really tried using it. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was good. I never had any problems with the "thin walls", as noted by other reviewers. When I ran into hotel staff and other hotel guests, they were very nice and helpful.
What really makes this hotel stand out is its prime location to the main street - Avenue Juarez, the hotel bar, pool, and AMAZING breakfast! Whether you are going for a Sunday walk (when the main streets are closed all day to allow the very family-orientated Mexicans to spend time in the community) on Juarez or are coming back from one of the great restaurant scenes, it's really nice that the Best Western is so close! However, since it is a block off Juarez, it doesn't get nearly as much noise, light, or distractions as if it was located right on the strip. And guess what, they even have a hotel bar at fair prices! After a night out, we all convened at this bar, watching a game on the TV, and boy, was it a perfect way to end the night! Plus, it was nice to try having a conversation in Spanish with the bartender, who was a great joy to be around.
Every morning, if you had a ticket (I believe you had to pay beforehand), you could go down to the hotel lobby and enjoy their HEAVENLY breakfast. Anything you could possibly want in a meal was offered, though with a Mexican cuisine focus. There was fresh papaya and other fruit, strawberry or chocolate atole (a hot flavorful drink that you MUST try!), and other solid food options (including eggs, but also local favorites). You WILL get full, and incredibly satisfied. There are several waiters that attend to you, like helping you with drinks. Please leave a few pesos as a tip after your meal for them. Afterwards, feel free to enjoy the early morning sun at the pool located nearby.
I truly believe that a good hotel is one that simply provides you a good place to sleep along with the option of breakfast. This location did both VERY WELL, especially that breakfast! I still have not had atole as good as they made it, and their genuine hospitality has been something I have come to know and love is very consistent in Mexico. iAmo Puebla! less
