We received 24 hours notice that the pool was out of commission for the weekend, Disappointing – Yes, but we appreciated the advanced notice. They gave us the option to cancel due to the Pool, but we are paying for a room – the pool is an added bonus.
When checking in we noticed a guest who was being rude to the front desk staff, as they were upset about the pool and having no area where the hockey team could play between games. When the hotel couldn’t accommodate these peoples request she raised her voice and pointed out that the hotel was responsible to provide a room given the pool was out of order…umm, no, they’re not. The problem we saw was that the Front desk staff was trying to offer other suggestions for the group to go, as the ball rooms were set up for a xmas party that was taking place this weekend! She had her hands tied – as they literally had no rooms for the kids and parents to congregate and the group had travelled together on a bus. A hotel is a place to sleep while away from home, added amenities are a great bonus. Hotels are not responsible to provide entertainment to you and your kids/team while on the road. I think the staff member did more than enough to help the guest come up with solutions.
