The view of the Nor'wester Mountain Range from the lobby and restaurant was amazing! Coming from Winnipeg, it was definitely a refreshing change in scenery. The front desk and restaurant staff were extremely welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. The menu was pretty big and we were able to get exactly what we were craving. The food was also delicious! One downfall is that when my husband and I wanted to use the gym, there was no one present in the pool area to "buzz" us through. Thankfully, someone from the front desk came to our rescue and let us through. Throughout our workout, the "pool attendant" made brief appearances in the gym to sit down on equipment, watch TV, and chat with young men. On our way out of the gym/pool area, the pool attendant was back in her office, but was sitting with what looked to be a friend behind the desk with her feet kicked up behind the counter. I can understand that if an individual is being trained to work then there will be more than one person behind the desk, but this just looked like unprofessional social hour to us. Other than this off-putting experience, we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Thunder Bay! less

First, may I thank you for choosing to stay at our scenic mountain location for your recent visit to Thunder Bay. Thank you too for complimenting our front desk, restaurant staff and our food offerings. Meeting and exceeding your expectations is what we strive to do with each and every guest every time. My deep concern is that there was a breakdown of that Superior Customer Care in the Pool and Fitness area of the hotel for a complete hotel experience with us. Please know that upon reading this review I took immediate action with the supervisor for that area so that she could meet with her staff to reinforce Customer Care and guest perception on their behavior during working hours. I apologize that we failed you in the pool/fitness area of our property. I truly appreciate you bringing the pool issues to my attention so I could correct their actions immediately.
