We stayed here for one night pre-cruise on the hotel's cruise package. The shuttle pickup from the airport was prompt, checkin was fast , and we were happy with our room on the 6th floor. The cookies and ice water with lemon in the lobby were a nice welcome treat. We knew the hotel was in the middle of nowhere-no restaurants nearby, so we made sure to get some food at the airport before we called for shuttle pickup. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but it's pricy. The hotel must have done some renos recently, and we were happy to see new flooring (no carpet-yay!) with nice little area rugs in the room. The king bed was comfy, and the AC worked-it was 94 degrees that day. It was quiet, and the blackout curtains kept the room dark at night. The breakfast was surprisingly generous-several hot items (scrambled eggs, sausages), plus make-your-own waffles, as well as the usual cereal, yogurt, toast, etc. Shuttle service to Cape Liberty was included in the price. Unfortunately, there is nothing positive to be said about the shuttle trips from the airport or to the cruiseport, except that we were thankful to get there in one piece, with all our luggage.
The shuttle drivers we had drove impatiently and agressively, with unsafe lane changes, speeding, honking, and lots of tailgating. And the driver was on his cell phone while on the road into the port-it was admittedly stop and go traffic, but he wasn't always paying attention to what was on the road. On the trip to the cruiseport, the back door opened en route-fortunately nothing fell out. These drivers need to re-take Safe Driving 101, because they clearly missed it the first time round! Their driving was totally unacceptable for transporting passengers anywhere. It puts a black mark on what is otherwise a great place to stay. less
