As one that travels to NYC on business 6 to 8 times a year and flies into EWR (Newark-Liberty airport) I choose to stay out of the city, but close to the airport and still look to the comfort I find myself accustomed to on business travel and I've found that with the BW Plus Newark Airport on International Way. It is conveniently located and offers a free airport shuttle 24/7 as well as a shuttle Newark Penn Station.
Not only are the staff very professional, they offer the traveler a friendly face, smile, and demeanor, and go out of their way to make their guest feel "at home."
I had to unfortunate luck to have to fly to NYC for a couple of meetings between the 13th and 15th of March, and arrived at the hotel the day before the "Blizzard of 2017."
I remember waking at 3 AM and looking out the window and seeing the accumulation of snow on the ground and vehicles in the parking lot. Now as one that spent over 20 years of my life in the Lake Tahoe area of Nevada, I am used to snowfall, but for the past 18 years have considered New Orleans my home when I am not working outside the country, so have become accustomed to the "Heat," so I am sure you can understand my dilemma of wondering how I was going to handle my meeting situation in the city the next two days.
Well upon waking that morning, and while taking advantage of their very filling and substantial free breakfast all the while watching the local news it seemed like everything was, or had already come to a standstill, so I decided to ask the front desk clerk if he knew what was going on with the trains. He immediately took the time to check for me and informed me that they had been put on a weekend schedule with the possibility of being cancelled totally if things got worse, which they did.
So deciding to skip my meeting, which turns out had been canceled anyway, I relaxed in my room just watching the local news, however come 3 PM I decided to go down to the snack machine and obtain something to quell my hunger until the restaurant opened at 4:30, and lo and behold, the management had went out of their way and had called in the restaurant staff early to open the restaurant and lounge at 2PM to accommodate their guest.
Now this in my opinion is going above and beyond the call of duty, and shows an organization that is truly concerned about the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of their guest.
Thank God the next day all was pretty much back to normal and I was able to attend my meetings on schedule and fly out that night.
Now if only the airlines could operate with as much concern and caring for their customers.
I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting the Newark/NYC area. less
