Whilst the food remains excellent here a couple of changes have slipped in, which don't really do this venue any favours. For example staff no longer serve food at the tables on Sundays when we visited. Food is simply 'plonked' on the table with no explanation. Such as shame as this was a positive feature. And such a waste of excellent staff who can be seen 'waiting around', with nothing much else to do.
Another big let down is sudden charging for tea and coffee following Sunday lunch. This used to be part of the meal a month or so ago. A bit 'sneaky' perhaps, as one coffee is now £3.00 a cup! Surely it would have been 'good practice' to point this out when requested??
Still a lovely venue with nice food and well-trained staff. BUT austerity seems to be biting here too ... such a shame! less

Dear Mr Lewis,
Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent lunch.
We are pleased you rate our food highly and we are sorry you felt our service let you down somewhat. Your comments have been discussed with the manager on duty that day.We still offer silver service to our guests but also find many prefer a more relaxed family service , where we leave the vegetables at the table so guests can take more if they wish.
At £18.95 for 4 courses, our Ostler restaurant Sunday lunches offer excellent choice and great value for money.
Teas ,coffees and other optional after meal drinks are offered on a priced menu at the table. Freshly brewed filter coffee is priced at a very reasonable £2.00 per cup.
