Really nice facility, I don’t believe it’s been open that long so it all looks modern and new. On arrival the car park was full so ended up in the overspill car park up the road which looked unfinished to me, lots of loose gravel, not the easiest to walk on and it’s on a gradient.
Starting with positives we enjoyed a mini facial and a foot treat here followed by a fantastic afternoon tea. Staff were all very warm and welcoming. Outdoor hydro pool is lovely and warm, so invigorating but it’s always busy.
Unfortunately on the day we went the steam room was out of order and judging by the sign on the door it must have been out of action for at least the past 4 weeks.
Annoyingly the spa pool is also used for other activities. We went on a Monday so weren’t allowed to use the pool or the jacuzzi between 10.30am-11am due to an aquarobics sessions going on.
Female spa changing rooms are upstairs, I suffer from a bad knee and did struggle abit going up and down the spiral staircase when I wanted to leave the poolside area. Lockers have digital locks, easy enough to operate. Only 2 loos in the ladies spa changing room and annoyingly not a hook on the back of either door. Would of been nice to be able to hang my robe up.
Another major issue was the lack of towels! On arrival you get a robe, slippers, 1 x small towel and 1 x large towel. If the towels and robe aren’t returned at the end of the day you face a hefty £85 charge. Personally I would have liked to see some extra towels by the pool as one large towel to last all day simple isn’t enough for me.
They’ve got a few annoying rules which take away from the relaxation experience. For one no glasses allowed by pool, that’s fair enough but there’s no alternative provided. If you want a drink by the pool there’s a water machine but it uses those annoying cone shaped paper cups so you can’t actually take a drink of water to your lounger as you can’t put it down anywhere.
Then going back to the towel issue they ask you to make sure you go to your treatments dry but I got out the pool half an hour before my treatment and I still felt damp. If they want dry clients in the treatment room please give us more towels in order to do so.
There’s not many places to sit around to pool or outside by the hydro pool, it could definitely do with some additional sun beds or even just some extra seating of some kind. There’s plenty of seating indoors, upstairs which is fine for lunch but I’d prefer to sit by the pool.
The afternoon tea provided was fantastic, much more food than I expected. It comes served to your table (not buffet style). You can purchase additional drinks at the counter.
