Booked a room in this hotel because I came to Atlanta to take a medical board exam. My flight got in at around 11:00 AM. As we were approaching the front desk the clerk immediately stopped us by saying "The Rooms are not ready so you're going to have to take a seat, if you are hungry there is McDonalds down the road you could also wait there"... talk about a warm welcome! 10 minutes later, the clerk called us again and said we could complete the check in. I wasn't really bothered by the appearance of the room. It was a bit outdated but it was fine. I was bothered by the hair I found on the towel, which was not mine. I was even more bothered by the constant partying from the room next door. Walls are seriously paper thin. I immediately called the front desk about 3 times and complained about the noise, but it didn't stop. Then, on top of all this, the air conditioner just turned off. We called the front desk again and a very polite man came up and got it to turn back on. He said to call back if the air shut down again... well, 10 minutes later it did and we called. He never came back up. We called again, they said he was on his way... he never returned. At this point I just over it, I only wanted to rest because I had a big day ahead and needed to study. I called front desk again, (I was starting to feel bad for the fellow at the front desk, he was actually really nice and patient) and I asked if we could possibly switch rooms. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked so we weren't able to change rooms. So, we ended up staying awake up until 2 a.m., when our neighbors decided to end their party. Before we were about to go to sleep we went to lock the door and the lock did not work. You could open the door from the outside without the key!! We ended up putting the coffee table against the door for security purposes. We woke up the next day, all sweaty due to lack of air conditioning, packed our bags and got out of that hotel as fast as we could. As we were completing check out, another guest came down to the front desk and complained that her shower head wasn't working. She had been waiting all morning just to take a shower... so I guess our room wasn't the only one that needed fixing.
This was my experience. I cannot say that the people at the front desk were rude. They seemed to be embarrassed by the fact that they could not do anything to help us. Management needs to seriously take a look and invest in basic things like shower heads, bath mats, hire more cleaning staff, and new air conditioners! You are providing a service for paying clients, it's just common sense.
So bottom line...If you need a place to crash for a one night because your flight got cancelled, go for it. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a good room. If you are planning to take a relaxing trip or need a place to stay before an important test, then I would not recommend staying here... the free breakfast is not worth it. less
