A rather irresponsible hotel. We chose to spend new years there to celebrate privately and safely. We called ahead to make sure the room had a big bathtub so we could lounge in that at midnight. We were assured the Junior suites had quite big bathtubs. The tub was miniscule. 1 person could fit half a body in it, if you chose which bodypart you wanted in water. The suite was so junior that it was barely out of preschool, i.e. two single rooms converted to a suite, one bathroom left as it was with a shower, and the other gutted, with only a little bathtub in it. The restaurant was closed, so one could not order food. We had to find a restaurant in town where we could pick up a take away menu. We had to bring plates and cutlery from home. There was no minibar, so you had to go to the reception if you wanted a glass of wine or soda. We toasted new years in water. That was complimentary.
What really took the cake though was the breakfast: after waiting in line for a while in the lobby I spotted people going back and forth with plates. I enquired in the reception and she confirmed my suspicion: the breakfast served was a buffet! For what they described as a quite full hotel! At the height of the Corona Pandemic! The receptionist assured me it was fully legal, and they had plenty of hand sanitizer stations in there. It may not be illegal to serve a buffet, but nor is it illegal to think responsibly, and offer the guests a safe way to have a breakfast without an unnecessarily high risk of infection. In most countries around us Buffets are not legal currently. A hotel chain should have picked up on that. It is no wonder the pandemic soars through Sweden, reaping so many victims. Needless to say, we left the hotel hungry, and immediately.
I hope the Hotel will supply the staff at the local hospital with free, safe breakfasts to help them get through this. They are currently all being asked to put in extra time and extra efforts. They shouldn't have to, but these are extraordinary times that require extraordinary measures! I hope this hotel will start contributing to the solutions in stead of being part of the problem. I will not be going there again. less
