Local college alumni, came to town with my spouse for one night to checkout a few of Troy's newest bars and restaurants. Clean hotel with welcoming and courteous front desk staff in a great location with the ability to walk to many different cafes, restaurants and other points of interest. We also appreciated the free parking and were able to find a spot right on the hotel property verses needing to use the garage, which was a plus. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is under renovation. There are signs posted in the lobby to notify guests when work will occur. Thankfully our room was located on the side opposite of the renovations so it was never an issue. Our room was located close to the elevator which was slightly annoying if only for the fact that a chime sounds every time the doors open but elevator itself was not loud or disruptive. My only complaint is twofold: Housekeeping is loud and not at all courteous. Look, I get it. You want to talk with your coworkers as you work. We all do it and socializing makes work less tedious. But when walls and doors are paper thin and it's morning and some people are still trying to sleep, maybe try to keep your voices down instead of shouting back and forth from one room to another? Also, please don't repeatedly knock on the door of the guests room that has a Do Not Disturb sign. My spouse and I both work nights and like to stick to the same schedule on our nights off if we can help it. This can be an issue during one night stays at hotels because checkout times are usually pretty early so we always request late checkout if available. We were granted a noon checkout. Only an hour later than normal checkout but it helps when you struggle to fall asleep before 5am so it was much appreciated. Unfortunately that either wasn't properly communicated to housekeeping or they just didn't care. They knocked on the door 3 times between 10:00 and 11:30, waking us each time. Every time they knocked we told them we had late checkout and did not wish to be disturbed, thus the Do Not Disturb tag. One time is understandable, but 3 times was excessive. I appreciate they have a job to do and want to complete it within a certain amount of time in order to have rooms ready for incoming guests at check-in time but having been granted late checkout, we didn't expect for our sleep to be repeatedly disrupted by hotel staff. That issue aside, hotel is fine. I would stay at this location again and recommend it to others. less
