This hotel is very well located, approximately 10 minutes bus ride from chamonix centre. Bus stop and train station within a few minutes walk (a little more difficult in ski boots however). We arrived at around 2.30pm so had to wait a short time until our room was available. Communication was a little difficult, although the staffs English was much better than our French. We hoped to collect our ski equipment, and were told that the Skiset shop opened at 4pm. Another member of staff told us the Skiset shop was closed on Sundays. We hung around for a while and the shop opened eventually. Generally, it seemed that the receptionists, although friendly, were unsure of a lot of things. Many questions we asked often felt like it was the first time they had been asked it. Our room was spacious, warm, clean and comfortable and our corridor was very quiet. Although not quite as modern as you would expect from the photographs. I wouldn't necessarily say this hotel was 4 stars, but that is in comparison to 4* hotels in England. We had to ask specifically for travel cards for use on the shuttle buses. We were also told that breakfast wouldbe €16 each per day - luckily I had the voucher stating that we had paid the bed and breakfast rate already. Another problem we encountered was getting water. There was only 1 small bottle of water in our fridge, so each night we asked at the bar for a jug of water. Sometimes this was given, another time we were given small bottles from reception, and others we were charged €6 for a large bottle. This was quite frustrating as water should be a standard thing to supply.
The breakfast room is lovely with great views, and there was a good selection of food. However staff at breakfast time were rarely present and often didn't say good morning/thank you etc.
The spa was nice to use at the end of the day, although the hot tub wasn't always hot.
The shuttle buses are regular and we almost always managed to get a seat. The night bus is also handy, for €2 each between 8pm and 12am.
Skiing is good in the area for beginners and advanced skiers alike.
We would stay at this hotel again as it is very well located for getting to the slopes at both ends of the valley, and warm and cosy after a long, cold day.
Thank you. less
