We used this hotel as a base for tour de Mont Blanc (TMB) and stayed at the hotel in the middle of July 2019 and in end of July 2019.
When we came the first time, the service was excellent, the food in the restaurant was nice and the staff very helpful. We were allowed to leave our car there for a small amount for 10 days while doing the hike, which was really nice and good service.
However. when we came back, it was like a completely other hotel. We have never had such bad service ever. We started out waiting more than one hour for a pasta with pesto in the pool bar. We asked for it about 5 times, but were told to be patient, and one of the waiters were really rude. When it finally arrived, it was so burned that it was impossible to eat it. Fair enough, when we complained, it was withdrawn from our bill and they gave us a salad for free, but we spend more than an hour waiting for uneatable food and there were no oter clients in the bar, so it was not becuase they were busy.
In the evening, the service in the restaurant was chaotic. Two young men sitting next to us were being completely ignored by the waiters and had to go and get bread and water for themselves after more than waiting in vain for more than half an hour. They ended up waiting more than one hour for a piece of ham and a couple of saladleaves! That might have been okay, if it wasn't because that some apparently wealthy looking older couples that were sitting next to us as well were served three dishes at the same time. So there was clearly a different treatment of the guests.
As for our own dinner, we had the first course without anything to drink, and the (warm) white wine that we had ordered by the glass, was not Chadonnay as the waiter had told us. Some of the dishes that we ordered were the same as on our first stay, but the presentation of the food was completely different and it also lacked some of the ingredients from the first time.
As for our dessert - the most simple dessert possible: 2 scopes of ice - we waited more than 40 minutes to get the wrong ice cream (we all got another thing than what we ordered) and it must have been the smallest scopes we have ever seen - our boy actually started laughing when he saw the size. When we complained about the wrong flavours, we got them replaced by ONE scope (aslo a wrong flavour, but here we gave up)!
When we left the following day, we told the receptionist about our experiences. She excused and said that there was a new staff at the kitchen. She wrote down all our comments and told us that she would give them to the hotel manager. We have not heard a word from him.
We are used to eating and staying at hostels and hotels of different quality and price classes, but we have never experienced anything like this. It is unacceptable in a hotel with four stars. less
