Having had a torrid experience on our first visit after having little sleep due to knocking pipes and the loud hum from a nearby boiler room, we were offered a free return visit.
Whist this stay was a lot better, it was still not to the standard, I expect. The room itself was ok, big queen size bed ;), although the pipes or radiator ticked continuously (not as loud to disturb the sleep).
The whole hotel looks tired, the plaster was falling of the wall in the corridors, the carpet on the stairs were stained very badly from a leak, which must have been still ongoing as there as a container on the floor to collect any water. There were damp/mould stains to the celling by the leak.
The biggest disappointment was breakfast. The whole breakfast menu was not available. My son requested pancakes, which we had on our previous visit, to be told he could not have them The fruit salad smelt and was fizzy indicating it was off and fermenting, we did inform the waitress, who did not change, but merely topped it up with fresh fruit. The coffee machine was not in use for most of the time we ate, as the water bottle was being filled, (surely this should have been done before any guests came down for breakfast? less
