We traveled as a couple last week to Napa and we were very pleased with this charming property. From the warm and gracious welcome to the last bite of the steaming sweet potato Belgian waffle on our last day at the Elm House Inn, our stay was nothing less than wonderful and relaxing. We enjoyed a lovely room with a king bed, larger bathroom and vanity area, and lots of room to move about in a sensibly designed space. Two large windows with adjustable shutters allowed light when we wished, and darkness when needed. The room was well appointed with lovely amenities such as pleasant soaps, hair needs, robes, hair dryer, iron, wine glasses, ice bucket, coffee maker/cups, etc. However, since the lobby is equipped with fresh, hot coffee 24 hours daily, there was no need to prepare coffee in our room, but it was nice to have the option. Did I mention fresh baked chocolate cookies every evening? I did not. Now is a good time to tell you about the bountiful breakfast that is prepared every morning and constantly refreshed throughout the service. You will never see the dregs of anything because every serving vessel is refilled frequently. Belgian waffles are made to order. Freshly prepared yogurt parfaits, fresh grapefruit halves, granola, hardboiled eggs, hot oatmeal and more make for a healthy breakfast if you so desire, but tea breads, fresh muffins, and assorted waffles with a charming pot of hot syrup are available for a splurge. Cold cereals and assorted bread for toast round out the meal, as well as assorted juices, teas, and coffee. The lovely lady responsible for all of this bounty is gracious and friendly. The front desk personnel are warm, friendly and efficient. The hotel, in the style of a B & B, attracts a nice clientele who are quiet and appreciate a good night's sleep, which you will obtain on the clean, crisp beds.
We would return in a heartbeat to this lovely property. We did not spend time on the lovely patio, the gardens, or the immaculate and well-lit outdoor hot tub/spa, but do bring swim gear, and relax in the garden area with a glass of wine from your vineyard explorations. You won't regret it. less
