We stayed at the Best Western Dockside twice on our recent trip to Mackinaw/c; on a Thursday and a Saturday. Price varied ~$100 from Thursday to Saturday, FYI. The first night we stayed on the upper floor in a room with a lake view which was really nice. The room was packed with gigantic furniture (way too much of it, frankly) and thankfully had a ceiling fan because it was pretty humid. The second night we asked for a ground floor room with a lake view which was easier to get in and out of and had less furniture cluttering the space. However, the carpet was very damp - like it had been recently cleaned - and made walking around barefoot or in socks very uncomfortable. Overall, the rooms were okay but nothing to write home about.
We tried out the pool and hot tub only to discover that the hot tub was LOADED with chlorine (the water was so cloudy you could not see through it) and it burned our eyes, dried our skin, and totally changed the color of my bathing suit. When I brought this to the attention of the staff at the front desk they simply gave me a pathetic "sorry." Same thing when I mentioned the wet carpet. Not even an attempt to be genuinely apologetic.
The free breakfast is what you expect: hard boiled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, waffles, toast, and juice. It was okay but PACKED. There were so many people because of the time of year it was, that we waited 10+ minutes to make waffles.
This hotel is okay but it's definitely not worth the $250-300+ per night. But, given the location and limited options for accommodations in the area, they can get away with the so-so service and oddly furnished rooms. Not sure I'd stay here again unless I absolutely needed to. less
