Stayed multiple nights in early May. We've stayed at this hotel once or twice a year for several years when we needed to visit medical specialists in the area. I've never had any complaints about this hotel, even during our March stay. But our most recent stay was.....different.
First, let me say that every staff member we encountered was very kind, friendly and professional. From housekeeping, to maintenance to the front desk.
We stayed 3 nights. Our card keys quit working every day, so we had to go to the desk to get them activated again. There was always someone else at the desk getting theirs activated as well. An inconvenience, but not a big deal.
After the first night, we realized our A/C was not working correctly. I followed the instructions and it would cool the room, then it would shut off and would never come back on to keep the room at the temperature we set. This made the room stuffy, warm, uncomfortable and musty-smelling. The next day my husband asked for maintenance to fix it. Someone came to the room and did something to jury-rig it. He was very nice and worked quickly to fix it. It didn't seem like it was a permanent fix, but it worked most of the rest of our stay.
What happened to the hair-dryers that used to be in the rooms? Also, housekeeping needs to check that the remotes have batteries. Apparently the previous visitor(s) took them!
We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel this trip due to early morning appointments. But we did back in March and it was very good. The staff was fantastic and made sure we had enough to eat.
The room and hotel were clean and looked nice. But there were people loitering (not just out for a smoke)in the parking lot at all hours (we left one morning before 6a and got back late one night). Always seemed like there were multiple people hanging out there with backpacks on. We had our child with us and it felt pretty sketchy. I haven't experienced it on prior stays. My husband went down to the car the last night of our stay and a man was going around our vehicle, peering in the windows. I was glad the car was still there when we came down the next morning to leave.
I don't know what the hotel can do about that other than have some security/patrol service go through the parking area frequently.
I booked through the Best Western website, yet my card was charged for our entire stay at 5:30a the day we checked in. Which meant I couldn't use the Best Western gift card I'd earned. The new lady at the desk said she's seen that happen when people use Priceline, Expedia, etc but I did not use any of those travel websites. I also never received a final statement (got a high level one when I booked) with the breakdown of charges by night. So I think something wasn't processed correctly. I'm a member of Best Western Rewards and, even though I had my rewards # on my reservation and was greeted as a rewards member, I didn't get my points. Again, I think it's related to how it was processed. It took 2-3 e-mails to get the Rewards group to add my points to my account.
Overall, this was an extremely weird stay and unusual for this location.
The stay just had a weird vibe. Hopefully it was a one time thing because, as I've said, the staff was great to us and we've enjoyed this hotel a lot through the years. less
