We stayed here after a very long flight, desperate for some sleep. We paid quite a lot of money for our room, $500, breakfast not included. Our room was on the 3rd floor, and the walls were quite thin - we could hear everything happening with our neighbours, plus all of the activity on the street below. With this in mind, ear plugs are essential, plus maybe an eye mask as the curtains don't block out all the light.
When we walked in to the hotel, there were people smoking right out front, including marijuana, and a motorcyclist was revving his engine right in front of the entrance.
Staff inside were polite and courteous, but I had to call down to reception to request pillows and blankets for my daughters pull out bed THREE times, and we were all so desperate for sleep. When they finally brought them up - they just brought sheets - no blanket and no pillows. I gave up and declined to call for a fourth time, so we just did without for the pull-out bed. Normally those items would be there ready for us in the room.
The breakfast the next morning was okay - but there was no hand sanitiser around the buffet area and it didn't feel particularly Covid-safe. Our table wasn't clean and there were no staff wiping down surfaces at any point. The closest sanitiser was on the wall near the elevators.
A note on plastic - So much of the breakfast involved single-use plastic - given its proximity next to the sea and the ocean plastic crisis - this is an easy win! All of the cups for coffee were individually wrapped in plastic film, plus the fruit they had out.
A few positives, the room seemed clean and after a long journey and flight, this was the saving grace. The pool, though small and easily crowded with just two families, was pleasant -the water warm. It wasn't particularly clean, with lots of sand in the pool, but there were plenty of clean towels and we enjoyed that part of it.
On a final note, our room was a 'partial ocean view' - we could see the sea if we stuck our heads out of the balcony and on the other side of the building we could see about 4 inches of ocean between hotels down the road. The main view was of Walgreens, where we saw a drug deal being made first thing in the morning. less
