All night construction noise - no sleep..

We booked one night with this hotel before flying out of Halifax. There were tradespeople thumping & banging away right next door during the evening. We thought well they must have the sensibility to stop fairly soon before people start trying to sleep. After all, it is a hotel where people pay to get a good nights sleep after all. We tried sleeping but it was very poor quality. Later in the evening (well past bedtime), the noise (banging on water pipes and lots of thumping around) was getting worse. At that time I called the front desk to ask them to stop the noise. They said they'd get someone on it right away. It did stop for about 20 minutes. However, the tradespeople moved to a floor directly above our room - exceptionally brilliant. This was 3am!!! I'm not sure why tradespeople have to be banging around through out the night when paying customers are trying to sleep. In the morning I asked the receptionist why there were tradespeople working the nightshift. The receptionist on duty said they were completely unaware of any construction or reno work. My wife & I are not losing our minds - it was the same blokes doing the same type of work except directly above our heads. Perhaps not all the staff know what's going on, who knows. I know this, if you want a good night sleep try going somewhere else. less
