We visited this hotel recently on a Groupon deal, which was a very good deal. We arrived at the hotel at 8 minutes to 2, I went to the desk to check in and was told by a very rude Receptionist to sit down as it wasnt 2.00 o'clock yet (which I presume was the time you could book in!) there was no one else at the desk, but people sitting in Reception, I was totally embarrassed by this woman's attitude, and wasn't sure if it was because we were with Groupon, but that should not be the case, we were customers regardless of our status!! whilst waiting my husband asked a very pleasant young man behind the Reception desk, if we could get to Leeds by bus, he told we could and gave him directions, his name was Jensen, he was so helpful, and he said just come to the desk I'll book you in, what a lovely young man, so polite and helpful, he was delightful. What a pleasure after our initial greeting, from the rude lady whose name was Imra (or similar, and was actually Head Receptionist!) no need for it.
We went to our room, which was very pleasant, we were happy with it, it was very clean and nicely furnished.
We unpacked and then made our way out to Leeds, again with a little help from the nice young man on Reception.
We returned from our trip, showered and went down to dinner, a gorgeous dining room and were were looked after well by staff. The menu was quite limited (a seperate menu for Groupon) the food was Ok basic, but adequate for the price we paid, and it was busy because there was a party of 300 in one of the function rooms,
so they coped well.
We had a drink in the bar and then went to bed. We went to breakfast next morning and was pleasantly suprised with breakfast, it was excellent, everything you could have asked for, all hot it was very good.
This was a good deal from Groupon, and apart from our initial greeting, which really upset us both, we are in our 60's not 6 year old children, which is how we were spoken to, we enjoyed our stay here, thank you to Jensen, and all the other staff who were lovely, but maybe a bit of training for the other lady, after all your greeting is the first impression customers get of the hotel, regardless of who you booked with!!! less
