We stayed here with friends for a pre-Christmas break and to visit the Christmas continental markets for the first time.
The hotel is located opposite parkland so it has the feel of an out of town place, which we like, but it is also near enough to the city centre to walk into from it.
The room was large and comfortable and, although facing the main road, was not unduly affected by noise.
We ate in the brasserie for one of the nights' stays where the service was fairly good.
The menu and wine list were quite comprehensive including local specialities; my wife had the chicken with haggis which was very good; I had the pork dish which was super!
The only thing we didn't like was the lack of ambience caused by the extremely dated 60s decor. The separate bar was even worse from this point of view with bench seats reminding us of an old Wimpy bar!
Even so I would recommend this hotel for a short stay if you don't want to be located in the city centre. less
