A good four star hotel. Room was a good size. Bed was comfortable. It may seem an odd thing to mention, but I was impressed with the strength of the water flow into the bath, which filled up amazingly quickly.
I noticed an 'Investors in people' badge on the front door and all the staff seemed well trained and attentive.
Did not eat in the restaurant, other than for breakfast, but breakfast was good and not overcrowded – and the bacon was superb.
As is apparent from the map, the hotel is situated a little to the south of the old town – a pleasant 20 to 25 minute walk to St Giles and the Royal Mile through Bruntsfield Links and the Meadows.
There are a couple of good Edinburgh restaurants within 10 minutes walk – Bia Bistrot and the Three Birds – and, in addition to a la carte, each has a very good value set menu at lunch, and in Bia's case also in the very early evening.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and the next time I visit Edinburgh it will be one of the first I shall look for when checking prices and availability. less
