Craigmillar Park

If you would like to play a golf course that is close to the centre of Edinburgh yet within the Green belt; with fantastic views down the coast of East Lothian and across the Firth to Fife; then look no further than Craigmillar Park Golf Club.

Although partly built on the hillside next to Blackford Hill, the course is largely rolling parkland in character. The tree planting carried out over a number of years has enhanced the appearance and increased the difficulties for the wayward golfer.

Craigmillar Park is host to the first Scottish Amateur 72 hole event of the season. Scotlands leading amateurs and many players from south of the border descend on the course in April each year to take part in this event previously won by 6 times major winner Sir Nick Faldo.

Situated to the west of Edinburgh, Kingsknowe golf club is within easy reach of all Scotland via the Edinburgh City Bypass. Originally designed by Alec Herd, the 1902 Open champion, the course was later redesigned by James Braid.

The parkland golf course in Edinburgh is laid out over and through the valleys of gently rolling hills on which Oliver Cromwell's army gathered to bombard Redhall Castle in 1650. The hills now define the picturesque cherry tree-lined fairways from which the mindful golfer must propel his ball to the well-guarded and relatively small greens.
