I booked based on reviews, checked in and used the gym in late afternoon. All looked good, until the end of the work day when the lot was invaded by truck driving young construction men, who played music and hung out in the parking lot, eating and drinking on a picnic table, hooting and hollering, singing and cat calling, letting loose after a hard day's work. It was like Fort Lauderdale at spring break. I called the desk, it settled down for a half hour, then started again. The desk explained this is their second home, so maybe they go away on weekends, explaining the contrast in my experience compared to other reviews. We are in a lower room, and not only do we hear the guests upstairs when they throw their shoes on the floor, the floorboards literally creak when they move. And we can hear the conversations through the walls on either side. I took a shower and the pin fell off the shower lever. I watched a millipede crawl across the bathroom floor. You can hear everything outside through the door, people walking by, the cars, etc. Maybe I expect too much at this price point, but this does not deserve a 5-star rating. On the good side, lots of towels, all the soap, shampoo, etc., hot water, recent clean tile on the bath floor, Toto toilet, good tv reception. I conclude that even a well intentioned management team can only do so much with an old place, and very little with unruly guests. less

We are sorry that you had a bad experience at our hotel. We cater to a wide variety of guests including various work personnel from construction to the wine industry particularly Sunday through Thursday. I am sorry that this particular group were unruly and continued to cause annoyance during your stay. Our guests are usually very well behaved so again, I do appologize.
We work very hard to keep our property well maintained but just as in a home, maintenance issues can happen unexpectedly, including a bug getting in a guest room.
We do hope that you would consider staying with us again on a future trip to California, but if not with us one of the other beautiful hotels in Paso Robles.
