The room was ready for an early check-in which was greatly appreciated. Stayed in room 520, king business, and the few extra dollars were worth it. The room was large, looking out at a mountain view and a local road. Port Alberni is a logging town, and there was no street noise at all. The mountains were touched with snow.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable, sheets were soft and smooth, duvet very welcome and cosy. The desk was a decent size, extra blankets were in the chest, and an armoire housed an ironing board and iron, with lots of room to hang clothing.
The Pharmacopia brand soaps, shampoo and lotions were surprisingly good- a tantalizing citrus scent filled the bathroom and wafted through the room-a mini spa experience!
The gym, located on lower main, with Apex machines and free weights was clean, with lots of towels and a water cooler. A large room with tv, really good for a hotel property. The sauna was above decent, and the hot tub was very clean.
As this was off season, the outdoor pool was not open, but it is a good size with a large deck.
The restaurant has a working fireplace, making a cosy atmosphere - and the serving staff are cheerful and welcoming. The food is good, basic, and fair-priced with a 20% discount at breakfast for hotel guests. Evening has a deeply rich and tasty french onion soup, made from scratch, worth ordering!
Overall, a very good stay, housekeeping staff cheerful and efficient. A very clean, stylish hotel.
Best - a large, well lighted parking lot, suitable for motorhome or truck. less
