We arrived on a rainy Saturday at the end of feb with our children and felt really welcomed by a lovely receptionist who was extra friendly and gave us lots of info and tips about the surrounding area.
Our room, number 14 was spacious and comfortable, slightly outdated but clean and practical so all in all a great start.
Sadly the experience in the morning really let you down. We set off for breakfast and my partner called to reception to collect the sun newspaper which we'd ordered upon check in. The receptionist looked at him with disgust and said we do not supply the sunday sport here. He was very embarrassed and explained that was not what he ordered. So left reception without a paper but feeling very uncomfortable. The cold buffet was lovely a nice selection to chose from however the cooked breakfast was dreadful. My sausage had a sweet going off taste, the bacon was undercooked and grey looking and the hash brown was overlooked? Served with a generous portion of cheap thin cold toast and a tiny portion of hard butter I felt so disappointed. I have to say if id have been paying £13.95 for the breakfast Id have been mortified.
I feel this hotel has great potential to be so much better. Good location, comfy rooms, great facilities, generally friendly staff but why serve sub standard breakfasts.
Please, please address the little things and pass on massive thanks to the receptionist working mid afternoon Saturday 28th feb. She is a credit to you :-) less
