First impressions mean a lot! No one was at the front desk when I arrived. I had to call on the house phone, which rang and rang and rang, so I was already a little miffed. But I do understand that they need to step away to clean, or take care of other things from time to time and can’t be there 24/7. The room had a slightly unpleasant odor and there was dirt on one if the light switches, which I cleaned off myself. I had to go back to the front desk because the outlet by the sink did not work. Since the hair dryer was mounted on the wall, that outlet was the only one close enough to reach it, which meant I could not use the hair dryer and didn’t bring my own. The front desk person, who was very nice, said she could call the maintenance man but then told me he called in sick. So her solution was to drag the tall bedside table lamp over to the sink area because it had outlets on the base. Mind you the sink area is quite small so I had this cord stretching from the bedside over to the edge of the sink and the hair dryer was plugged into the lamp base. She said, “I hope this is safe.” On her way out the door she asked if I wanted to change rooms. Since she spent all that time trying to help and I had already unpacked a couple things, I declined. I wish she would have offered that immediately or maybe offered a discount for the inconvenience. On a positive note, I was able to check in early, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was very nice, with lots of variety. less
