If you are into biking or stopping for outdoor activities this is the hotel for you. If you need a halfway point, this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for a nightlife after your activities this really isn't the hotel for you.
We used this hotel as a halfway point back home. We arrived around 3:30 pm and checked in. We asked about the local best places to eat only to be told "It depends on what you like".. The other desk person gave us a run down of restaurants she thought were good. Sadly most of not all were already closed. Yep, 3 pm and the entire town nearly shuts down. One lady was looking for a pharmacy. There was one but it was closed too. We did find an A & W that was filthy but had decent food. We cleaned the table off with paper towels from the bathroom because the 2 kids running the place were overwhelmed. Dishes were piled high on the garbage area which hadn't been cleaned for eons by the look of the layers of food goo. Thankfully we weren't overly picky because the food was very hot and good. Just don't look around and you'll be fine.
Anyway, the hotel was clean and well stocked.. We lacked for nothing. The room was stuffy and the only way to rectify was to turn on the air conditioner which was a bit loud. I have nothing bad to say about the room. The shower had plenty of hot water and I enjoyed the shower head that had different settings.
Parking is ample and the perimeter of the hotel clean.
The cons would be the lack of anything to do. We ended up at the St Vincent because it was the only store open around 6 pm. My daughter needed an extra pair of leggings for the trip so we stopped there. It wasn't cheap though at 6 bucks for a pair of used leggings.
My husband did take a walk in the neighborhood shortly thereafter while I took the kids and went to the room. He walked about a couple of blocks and was approached twice by two different men asking him what he was doing and where he was from. He was surprised at the "Deliverance" mentality of the locals. He told them both he was out for a walk because he didn't want to be cooped up in a room. One guy told him to get off his property. My husband kept walking and told the jerk that the sidewalk was public property. After being approached twice, he decided to return to the BW.
The next morning we had breakfast in the dining room. The food was fair but could have been warmer. We tried the OJ that had obviously watered down. My husbands biscuits and gravy was tepid at best. I stuck to cold cereal and hot tea.
We were happy with the room. It was clean, neat and dry. A bit outdated as others have said but it worked for us. What didn't work was the rude locals and lack of things to do after 3 pm. less

Thank you for choosing to stay with us, I am glad we were a good half way point for you, I am very sad to hear about your experience with the town itself..
I hope you will visit again and that your experience will be much more enjoyable..
