This hotel has come a long way since my 18th birthday party back in the 90's, now boasting a stylish entrance hall and sheltered courtyard. The restaurant looked good too, but I ate elsewhere and hadn't booked breakfast.
The room was in an annex on Jewsbury, just across the carpark from the hotel reception. It was spacious, immaculately clean and well furnished, with a super comfy king size bed. There were lots of teas and coffees and a bonus of a couple of bottles of water (it was roasting so that was great). The room is on a fairly busy road but as its not right in the centre of town, there was actually very little noise over night. The bathroom was huge and the shower was good, with nice quality toiletries and big towels.
A couple of wee criticisms - the room number was a laminated piece of card blutacked to the door which cheapened the look of an otherwise stylish room; a tiny bit of rearranging would allow guests to use the full length mirror, currently the luggage stand is in front of it; the bathroom floor was really creaky, I was worried about walking in there at night for fear of waking other guests.
I'd definitely stay again. less
