Likely I would offer a 4 rating, but a few things got in the way. First, the positives: The rather standard breakfast was executed better than most. The eggs tasted fresh and more like a product without the prefab aspect. We rarely do a hotel chain breakfast more than once, but did both days this time. The staff was uniformly helpful and friendly and responsive...but that leads into the why they needed to respond...
Our first room had a chemical...by that I mean room 'freshener' smell which was overpowering, and did not dissipate. We really had to request a different room. To do so, we had to call with a phone other than the hotel phone, which offered no dial tone. They stated that it was because the lobby phone was being replace just then, and they could see we had tried to call, but they could not respond.
They DID offer a different room rather quickly, and delivered the room keys to the old room. Each room was clean. The only thing less than fine with the second room was a bathtub faucet which did not totally shut off, but the maintenance man was on site, and it was such a minor thing.
While we might not jump at the chance to stay again, we would certainly not rule it out, and the other hotels in Marble Falls were not only chains also, and almost totally booked, but boasted much more inflated prices (some twice or more) than I believe a similar chain would warrant. The only other thing - perhaps my error - was that I had not noticed on the website a specification that no elevator exists at this unit. With some items we were delivering to other family members of both a hefty and heirloom nature, I found the outdoor stairs to be something I likely would have chosen to avoid...even with the price difference. Not getting any younger!
Last impressions, folks, don't let the negatives or the 3 - if a 3 and a half was possible, I would have chosen that - put you off this hotel. It was, after all, inexpensive, clean, and the staff was thoroughly helpful and quite quickly responsive to our concerns. less
