My partner and I regularly travel to Worksop to see his parents. Previously we have always stayed at the Travelodge as we generally only stayed for 1 night. However this time we decided to stay longer and I wanted a little more luxury! I found the Lion Hotel quite by chance online through booking.com and was impressed by the reviews and photos so booked it.
This hotel is a little gem, we had a lovely room (201) which had a dressing area, bathroom and bedroom which was impeccably clean and the shower was really powerful. The bar was very reasonable and the food was lovely. We had dinner and breakfast. What I liked on the Bank holiday Monday was even though there was a buffet breakfast you ordered your eggs, apart from scrambled which was in a Bain Marie which meant fresh fried or poached eggs. the buffet is only on at weekends and bank holidays, rest of the week breakfast is served at your table.
Lawrence the duty manager is excellent and very observant. The weather had been really warm all day on the Monday so all the outer doors in the hotel were open. Halfway through dinner my partner became cold and went to our room for his cardigan. As soon as he returned Lawrence asked if we were cold and would we like the outer door nearest us shutting, we said yes please and it was done immediately. He was very attentive during the meal but not overly so.
Every member of staff we had contact with were really pleasant and courteous. I cant fault it in any way and believe me I am very picky.
The hotel is on the main street easy access to all the shops, cinema across the road and a large shopping centre nearby.
We are so pleased we found this place and will definitely return very soon. less
