My husband and I used the Best Western Leesburg as the hotel for our September 2016 wedding, and overall we were pleased with our experience. We contacted the BW as soon as we decided on our venue (Bluemont Vineyards) in late December 2015/early January 2016. Although it was not our first choice, it was the only hotel with enough availability for our group that was near our venue (due to the influx of winery weddings in Loudoun County in the last few years, many of the hotels are booked 2 years in advance depending on the time of year!). Contributing to our initial hesitation was the difficulty we experienced trying to communicate with their Director of Sales, Erica McLeod. It was often a challenge reaching her and we often had to do so in a roundabout way (she doesn't seem to have a direct line, and her email responses were slow and sparse). Nevertheless, we were able to work out a contract early in the year, and we were pleased to learn that the hotel was planning to do some extensive renovations to their decor. Another reason we initially hesitated in using this hotel was that in the past, their decor included heavy wooden furniture with red carpet that hadn't been updated in nearly a decade (I stayed here for a wedding in 2007, so I can attest to this). Now their decor includes bright and clean blues, greens, and yellows, with modern furniture, new carpet and flooring, and overall nicer rooms.
As the year went by, we found that when we had questions or concerns about our room block, our best bet for getting a thorough and helpful answer was to ask for their General Manager, Richard Menster. This man is fantastic! He was always cheerful and willing to help us, and as an anxious couple concerned about our guests well-being (as well as the logistics of getting them from the hotel out to a relatively remote area), he was a welcome relief. He made himself available, sent us information via email almost immediately, and worked with us to help distribute our hotel welcome bags to our guests. The front desk staff were also great, and throughout the year we were able to visit/tour the hotel to see their progress on the renovations, as well as check on the large suite that my bridal party and I would use the day of the wedding to get ready.
Our two night stay at the BW during our wedding went off without a hitch, and our guests were pleased with the hotel as well. The breakfast was a nice continental breakfast, the lobby was attractive and welcoming (our photographer took a few pictures there with my husband at their baby grand piano), and the hotel was clean and quiet. Prices were reasonable and parking was plentiful and free. Thank you to Richard and the staff at the Best Western Leesburg for working with us and for making our stay so pleasant! less
