A weekend at the Lansdowne.
Back to Eastbourne again for the annual BECTU conference, and this time booked into the Lansdowne.
My first impression was of an old style and elegant hotel. I later noted that there were a number of pleasant and quiet reception rooms on the ground floor where guests could relax or play card games etc.
On arrival I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist.
Compared to the traditional feel of the hotel's public areas, the room itself was modern and contained all the necessary artifacts for a pleasant stay - a comfy bed, a TV that worked well enough, a clean and well equipped bathroom (with an efficient shower) and tea and coffee making facilities.
My early morning call (booked via Reception) came on time, and I was able to enjoy a good breakfast in the light and airy restaurant. There was a good choice of breakfast foods available by self service (cereals, continental breakfast items, traditional English, tea, coffee, fruit, fruit juices, yogurt, toast etc) and it was possible to order some additional items such as porridge. The breakfast staff, like all the staff I met at the Lansdowne, were friendly and helpful.
All in all, the hotel provided all that I needed, and was a very pleasant place to stay. less
