My wife and I returned to the Lansdowne in February and we're pleased to say that it has maintained the same high standards as last year.
It is an old fashioned traditional seaside hotel, very welcoming with high standards of cleanliness and customer service. Beautifully warm and welcoming.
It was nice to see some members of staff whom we met last year, and we were remembered, which was nice.
A superb position on the seafront directly opposite the Lawns so superb for dog owners, and the hotel is welcoming for dogs too, meals can be taken with your dog in a small lounge area, dogs are sensibly not allowed into other public areas, but the provision of a separate area keeps everyone happy.
My only disappointment on this trip was that the chef was having some sort of re vamping of the menu, and I know not what was going on but we were given virtually the same menu for seven nights????? Now this did spoil our enjoyment as the standard and variety of food is an important factor when booking the Lansdowne as it is normally 100%, and it upset me that I had to complain after the third day that the food was becoming very repetitive, it somewhat embarrassed me and spoiled my stay.
I must say in all fairness that the hotel responded exactly as a quality establishment should and we were offered the a la carte menu eat no additional cost.
I really could not understand how offering the same menu every night helped to formulate a new menu??
We look forward to returning to the Lansdowne again in the winter and look forward to a warm and friendly welcome, just hope the chef has sorted himself out. less
