Firstly, the positives. I was born in Eastbourne so have many happy memories of this location, and visit hotels on the seafront on a regular basis when visting family. The rooms are clean, service and staff friendly and amazing views from front rooms. This has an old school charm hotel, better suited for the older clientele, but is kept in good decorative condition throughout. Food is good, but not great, but that is reflected in the price paid.
The reason for my lower rating is the misinformation I was given on booking in, which resulted in me being issued a £35 parking fine. On checking in, I asked about parking ( as in the past, seafront hotels sell you a parking permit at a discounted rate ). I was told, parking was not a problem as was free until April. However, on checking out, I was horrified to see I had been issued a ticket. I questioned this with the hotel who then told me, some areas are free and some not. Well, why didnt you tell me this at the time?
I would return to this hotel again, but will definitely not ask their advice on parking again! less

Dear Tracy M,
Thank you for posting your kind comments on Trip Advisor.
We are delighted that you enjoyed the wonderful location, sea view, service and hospitality.
We are very sorry that you got a parking ticket, we do make it very clear on reception that we cannot take reasonability for customers parking. My team on the front desk do try to explain the situation. However, I would always suggest to review the signage on the road before parking anywhere.
On behalf of myself and the Team at the Lansdowne Hotel, we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
