Best Western Lansdowne Hotel

We all loved it. The special tea party was an end of term farewell for our teachers and everyone had a splendid afternoon. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, room was spacious and welcoming. Staff were helpful and professional. Hotel was perfect for a chat and much needed social at the end of a busy term. I live locally to this hotel, but have stayed there a few times in the past and there's something really lovely about it. It may be that it's been in the same family for over 100 years or just that the staff seem to really be interested in helping you - which may come from it being family owned... I'm not sure. Anyway, my mum wanted to have a party to celebrate her life instead of a funeral... a strange request but the two ladies on the events team stepped up and took on the challenge. We had flowers, a wonderful buffet and three members of staff assigned to us on the day who were attentive and helped overcome any problems or queries we had immediately and with a smile. The buffet we chose was delicious although the Dauphinoise potatoes had dried out a little but only because our presentation went on so long - we all had rather a lot to say to Mum, to tell her what she means to us. But the cold roast beef was cooked to perfection and so tasty - and I want the recipe for the beetroot slaw which had a touch of horseradish in it. The personal attention we had made it feel like a five star hotel, such a wonderful, memorable occasion. There was a discount rate for guests to the party who booked a room and the rooms were roomy and comfortable some had been refurbished and I believe the others are soon to be refurbished. The only problem was the lack of air conditioning on what was one of the hottest nights of the year so far. Breakfast was full English or continental and was generous and well cooked. God hotel with free WiFi and decent size rooms. The carpets felt dusty and needs thorough cleaning. The restaurent is not good and the staff awful and very rude. We tried to book a table and no one picked the phone. Went to the restaurent at 810pm and so many empty tables and still we were told the waiter has to discuss with chef which was bit surprising. At the end we got a table. The manager and the waiter was rude and even took the plates off before we finished. Breakfast was also not good, though they had a wide variety of food. Not a professional bunch working there at the restaurent. Tea was awful and the coffee as we can see many guests complained about the quality and the rudeness of the staff. less

A very pleasant stay In eastbourne. Much cheaper than the Grand which is a lovely hotel if you can afford it. Comfortable accommodation and good food. Great views of the seafront. Very comfortable and friendly hotel. Good access to shops and the seaside. less
