We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights 1st-3rd May 2015.
We arrived just after lunch and although our room wasn't ready for occupation the receptionist checked us in, advised us of our room number, said we could leave the car in the car-park and wander off into town, and could get into the room after 2.00pm - all in all no hassle.
The hotel was quiet on the Friday night and we chose to eat in the small bar/dining area. The food was excellent and plentiful. We had the soup, and 1 main of the pork loin and 1 of the scampi. I have never seen a larger portion of scampi served anywhere. The soup and main filled me up, and I'm a big eater, so we didn't get a chance to sample the dessert menu. Service was very friendly.
The breakfast the following morning was self service for fruit, yogurt, cereals, etc and waitress service for the cooked breakfast. The breakfasts were very tasty, well cooked and not swimming in grease, and plentiful. Service was speedy and polite.
Sadly on the Sunday morning the breakfast room was full and service was slower and a little disheveled. Maybe the planning wasn't as sharp as it could have been (one of the servers was new) and maybe a different system could be used (or maybe 1 extra staff member on busier days). However all this said the breakfast was just as tasty so the quality wasn't compromised, just the service.
The room was clean, large and airy and the bed was very comfy. We stayed in 102 and whilst the view wasn't superb (overlooking rooftops) and above the entrance alley to the car-park, it wasn't noisy (main road and passing pedestrians) even with the window open. The heating was on and and the bathroom was comfortable. The hot water was exceptionally hot (unusual for a hotel of this layout and no. of bedrooms) so take care in the shower.
Wifi was free, fast enough and accessed via adding a code every 24 hours.
Overall a very enjoyable stay, with very friendly staff. We would stay here again if in the area. less
