I travel to Winterthur a lot (15 nights so far this year), and I would never consider staying anywhere else.
The rooms have large showers (no bathtubs) and extremely comfortable beds. The rooms are small, but in keeping with European style.
It is across from the train station, which I count as a plus and not a negative. That side of the building is well insulated against sound, but I often sleep with the window open and the noise is not excessive. The hotel also offers free bus passes, which has saved me hundreds of dollars in cab fare.
The morning breakfast buffet is large, but does not vary much from day to day.
What blows me away are the other amenities. There is an Espresso maker in the lobby that makes excellent coffee and is free of charge. They also have free electric bicycles to loan (also free of charge).
All this is great, but it is the people who work there and treat me truly like a guest and not a customer. Allow me to tell a story that illustrates that.
I had to extend my trip by one day, but the hotel was completely booked up. I left my luggage and took off; I would either be back to settle up and collect my things, or move back into another room if there was a cancellation.
As luck would have it, they did have a cancellation, and when I entered my room there was a bottle of water that I had left and some other items that they moved from my old room to my new room.
This hotel is comfortable, safe, convenient and, more than that, a pleasant place to stay. less
