It is extremely close to the train/bus station. Like a 2 minute walk with bags. For me, this was a positive. Everywhere we went within Takayama was within a 10 minute walk, so location is pretty much a nonissue for most of the hotels I’m guessing. But being able to quickly and easily walk from the train station was great.
A solid sized room. The biggest negative to the main part of the room was that there weren’t many places to plug in devices, especially since a few of the spaces for plugs were already being used by Best Western devices. Wifi worked ok, but wasn’t amazing. There was a nice nespresso type machine in the room, plus a small fridge, so that was great.
The bathroom looked dated, but was an ok size. Because they specifically tell you not to shower with the door open due to smoke alarms, it was hard for one person to get ready in the bathroom while the other was in the shower.
We tried the breakfast one day. It was ok — a fairly large buffet of western and Japanese items — but the taste/quality was somewhat of disappointment, particularly for the price. I would’ve rather had fewer options, but better quality. less
