After reading the mixed reviews, I was unsure of what to expect before arriving at this hotel. However, upon walking through the entrance in the delightful Jouffroy passage, I was immediately pleased with my hotel choice.
Despite being very affordable for Paris, the decor inside is incredibly tasteful. Chandeliers embellish the ceilings and long mirrors compliment the unique Paris street name wallpaper. We were greeted fondly by the friendly reception staff who are all multi-lingual and polite and we were offered several bonjours from cleaners who were kind and smiley.
Our rooms were 502 and 506 on the top floor, hidden through an inconspicuous 'cupboard-like' fire door. A long corridor boasted several spacious rooms on this level and also offered beautiful views across the Parisian roof tops and the stunning Sacre-Coeur. Our rooms themselves were clean, tidy and simple, providing good-quality air conditioning and space to store all our necessities. The bathroom in room 506 was particularly excellent, completely marble white with a very luxurious shower.
As should be expected, night time was accompanied by noise from the street below, however one cannot come to Paris and expect to have a silent night- this just adds to the charm of the beautiful and lively 9th arrondissement.
Breakfast was plentiful and offered a wide range of choice. A particular favourite of mine were the pain au chocolats which were constantly restocked, and the hotel coffee was also considerably better than that from other European establishments I have sampled.
The location of this hotel could not be any more perfect. The Grands Bouleveards metro station is directly outside, offering the opportunity to travel across the city with ease. The Jouffroy Passage is dotted with delightful gift shops and it is only a short walk to the Louvre Museum and several stunning palaces.
Both check in and check out were very efficient and a variety of deals are available through the hotel for the big bus tours and airport transfers etc. The reception staff were also more than happy to place our two rooms as close together as possible.
We had an excellent three night stay, thank you very much to all of the staff at this charming hotel. Hopefully we will be able to return! less
