Just had the loveliest stay at Best Western Nagoya. The staff were professional and helpful at all times. They showed us, as foreigners, as much care and respect as Japanese people which is a first for us here in Japan. Every question was answered and all possible assistance given. When a taxi was called we were sked to wait in the warm foyer whilst a staff member spoke to the taxi driver, told them where we wanted to go, assisted us then waited until we left before leaving- what a nice touch. In Osaka, hotel staff didn't want to make eye contact and barely spoke to us whilst making a huge fuss over local guests so it was nice to be treated equally here at Best Western!
Our room was clean and cleaned scrupulously every day. Staff were courteous and made sure all products were filled each day. bath products were of a high standard and towels and liner very fresh and well presented.
Our bed was big even though it was against the wall and having a desk, small table and chair and a fridge made our stay very comfortable.
Free wifi in our room was greatly appreciated.
The breakfasts were lovely. the room is quite dark but is more serene than oppressive. Once again staff were lovely. Food varied each day - we had 3- but staples like cereal, toast, pastries, salad were always there. I liked the corn soup, meatballs, mini hamburgers, salad, scrambled egg, omlette but there was also a wealth of Japanese food- nicely set out, hot and plenty for guests. My husband and I just loved our 3 days. Only one minor issue, my husband was not a fan of the pillows but they were fine for me- not much of a complaint.
A taxi from JR is about 1500y but the subway is a quick 5 minute walk and 2 stops and is 200Y- staff will advise you how to get to Sakae Subway station less
