Best Western Hotel La Mare O Poissons

I booked this hotel for its location. We got more. We were a late check in and the girl at the front was smiling and greeted us when we walked in. Quickly checked us in so we could rest. The room was nice, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good. Eggs, bacon, pancakes and so much more. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Normandy area less

Stayed here as part of Briitany ferries trip and was a slight disappointment compared to the two previous hotels. The rooms were quite small with a tiny shower cubicle but for an overnight stay just adequate. The facilities were fine and it was a short walk into town. The staff were lovely and we received no end of help from Claudine on reception! Breakfast was very good, a clean modern hotel for a short stay. less

We used La Mare as a centre for a cycle trip with friends, since it is nice and close to the ferry port. Found the staff to be very warm and welcoming, and happy to share their local knowledge, and attentive when sitting in the bar unwinding (us unwinding, not the staff!) Standard buffet breakfast fare which was enough to keep us going for 50-60 mile rides each day (though we also sneaked some of the pastries into a napkin for later). Staff opened up the pool area for us one day, when we came back from a particularly long day in the saddle, just what these weary bones needed. They were also happy to put our bikes in secure storage area so we didn't need to keep them in the rooms. Only potential downside would be the number of immigrants seen outside on the main roads, but they never appeared to come into the hotel grounds at all. To be fair, they seemed to stay closer to the port where the traffic bottlenecks are (and the Gendarmes). Nevertheless, I'm glad we didn't need to leave our bikes outside for temptation. I'm sure we would stay here again if planning another trip in the area. less

We stayed hear because it is close to the ferry port, and we were on the early boat back. Not far off the main drag, a bit out of town but not too far. Check in easy, very good, friendly staff. Nice room. Very quiet. Very comfortable. Didn't eat there as we'd eaten a 3 hour lunch! But looked OK. Recommended. less

Booked for 2 nights and as ferry was delayed ,arrived at midnight,staff very helpful and got us a drink from bar. Room very nice and comfortable,bed is large and comfortable to. Day staff also very nice. Eat in restaurant attached although run separately,food excellent. Secure parking,so overall an excellent stay. Only downside is large groups of migrants on traffic islands nearby. less
