This is a 4-star review, but the staff at La Corona Hotel gets 5 stars all the way. They are all super friendly, always willing to help and take care of the guest very well. I was impressed with how nice everyone is, especially Reyn at the front desk. Your friendly personality and beautiful smile all the time made our stay very pleasant thank you! The workers at the restaurant always greet you in the morning and are eager to serve the delightful breakfast.
The hotel's breakfast is very filling, good coffee and many choices, even can order omelet made to order. The only thing I would improve on is to add some sort of selection of cheeses and fruits, otherwise, it's good over all.
The A/C worked well in the room - very important as the humidity in Manila is scorching!
The only reason I classified as 4 stars is because:
1 - there was a huge glob of hair in the bath/shower that was never cleaned from someone's previous stay. I did not mention this to the front desk because our arrival time was near Midnight, at at that hour, the staffing is limited so I did not want to impose and I cleaned it up. Also, in defense to the housekeepers, who I'm sure do a good job, the decor in the bathroom is very outdated, it's dark and dingy, the lighting is terrible. So that mixed with dark tiles, it's easy to miss hair because you can't see it, but it was there nonetheless.
2 - The price we paid did not provide a good value in comparison to other area hotels with similar pricing. The rooms are average, the decor is very out dated but I am a best western loyal so I wanted to add the stays to my loyalty card.
Lastly, you receive "Welcome Drinks" upon check-in, which in theory, is a nice touch, however, the management should change the language to a "Welcome Beverage" instead of "drink" , because internationally, a "drink" can be considered an alcoholic beverage, especially at a Hotel bar or restaurant, instead the welcome drinks are coffee, tea or orange juice (which are served any way at breakfast). So you should market that as a "welcome juice" or "welcome beverage" so the guest expectation is set.
I will definitely book again if I had to because of the friendly staff and location, many convenience stores and places to eat within walking distance. less
