Adequate (barely) when nothing else is open, but otherwise, stay elsewhere

We stayed two nights around Christmas and two nights over New Years by nature of all other Gross-Gerau hotels being closed for the holiday. I would have rated it 1 star, but the breakfasts were adequate (except when they ran out of certain food for lack of planning during the holiday season when their suppliers were closed), and they were indeed open during the week all other hotels in the region were shut.
The internet signal is weak and spotty (the receptionist upon our first stay showed me the new WiFi device to be installed - but one week later when we returned, still they had not done that basic work), so conducting business there is hard to do. The staff is friendly but not given the training nor authority to handle anything but the most basic tasks - they did not even have keys to the data room or a manager or owner available to take a call for help (they tried - but no one responded to their text requests for help). The rooms have dirty carpets, there is an odd smell in the rooms as well.
Just to be sure - the staff is not to blame here - it is the manager and more importantly the owner who bears responsibility for this poor effort - an attitude change in the ownership is sorely needed less

We are very sorry that we could not met your expectations at all by fixing the problem during your stay. The issues with the Internet in some rooms and areas are indeed also unacceptable for us as this is not the service we want to offer our guests. As there is no possibility solving this quickly, we are going to change the provider as with the actual one we could not ensure a good Quality. We are sorry that we cannot offer a quick and fast resolution in this matter but we will do the changeover as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding
