I stayed in September 2017. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the town square and all of the public transportation. It’s very clean and the staff are professional and helpful. The breakfast was awesome!! It had everything – fruit and yogurt bar, pastry bar, assorted cereals and oatmeal, eggs, sausages, cappuccino machine, etc. The room was a good size with plenty of storage area for clothes and luggage. The bathroom had a really narrow bathtub so when showering, I found myself always sliding. They should just remove the tub and install walk-in showers. Also, no facecloths or hair conditioner. They use that 3 in 1 soap, shampoo, conditioner stuff. Fortunately, I had my own. But no facecloth.
One thing I was pleasantly surprised by – the way the hotel is laid out, there is a large Zen Garden in the courtyards that separate the two sides of the hotel. You can’t enter the garden, but the walls of large windows still give you a sense of tranquility. Every time I walked by, I just breathed a little more deeply and easily.
The one thing I didn’t appreciate – my stay was arranged and prepaid through AAA. When I wanted to leave a day early (and I gave MORE than 24 hours’ notice), they refused to refund the day’s charge. Something about “commission.” I don’t care about commissions. If I give over 24 hours’ notice, I expect a refund. So I’ll look to AAA about that. less

Thank you very much for your positive Feedback! The Best Western Hotel Darmstadt Team was happy to receive so much appreciation for our ZEN-Garden and its service and is looking forward to welcoming you back soon. By the way, a washcloth is always available at the front desk, it is also written in the guest Manual. It is very uncommon in Germany to use them, that is why we don't equip every room with washclothes, which also applies to the hair conditioner. Our washing products are called "Naturals" and are seperate for handwash (basin) and Hairwash (Shower), not 3-in-one. They are top-products and contain natural ingrediences with an elegant smell of citrus. In regards to your early departure I can only advise you to contact the Travel Agent (AAA), as our stay was prepaid in full.
