Stayed for one night. This hotel is situated next to a derelict huge building.
The room was very old with a terrible smell . Windows were dirty, mattress had springs coming through , water from the sink in bathroom was scolding hot, no cold water. The shower was complicated to work, the mixer taps were constantly boiling hot to touch before turning on. Towels in room were rough and did not smell fresh. The shower gel canister on wall of shower was broken . My husband complained to the management and invited them to see our room in the morning as we did not use the room until midnight. After an exhausting journey we just wanted to get some sleep and only realised the quality of the bed late. They agreed the mattress needed replacing and the water from the taps were a health and safety issue. They said we should have asked for a ‘mattress topper’ . You don’t expect to arrive to a hotel and ask for a mattress topper because the springs had come through your mattress!
The general manager offered a 25% discount only for our one night stay. Considering this room should be condemned on health and safety issues this was not acceptable. My husband and I managed just a few hours sleep. We were having to drive 5 hours the next day and did not feel fresh but tired and exhausted. Don’t let this hotel ruin your holiday, keep away, don’t book! less

As discussed in person, it is such a shame you did not bring your issues to our attention prior to check out when there is no way of resolving anything for you. Issues do arise in hotels from time to time, and we have 24 hour staff on hand. It was your decision not to contact them, rendering you an unnecessary uncomfortable night. The issue with the mixer tap has been resolved and again if you felt this was a health and safety issue, an immediate alert would have been beneficial for both yourselves and the hotel. You mentioned as you left that you would be leaving this tripadvisor, which you are entitled to do, but we do feel your comments are unfair when you gave us no way of knowing your issues at the time.
However, we do hope you enjoyed all Newquay had to offer.
