We stayed at the Hotel Alfa for one night prior to leaving Barcelona and both the price and proximity to the airport with a free shuttle were the main highlights to choosing the property. As a Diamond member of the Best Western rewards program I would have expected some recognition of this fact but absolutely none was given at any point during our stay despite me confirming that my BW rewards information was on the booking.
We had a room on the first floor at the end of a long hallway which was fine as it was relatively quiet and the fact we could open the windows for fresh air was a nice feature; however the rest of the room was quite drab and unimpressive.
The property itself appears to be in need of a renovation of the public spaces as everywhere felt very dark and depressing, and the room albeit modern seemed like a hybrid hotel / hostel / dormitory with nothing of particular interest to note.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant area on the main floor and if not included in the room rate is charged at about 11 Euros per person which i thought was a bit much given the selection of cheeses, cold cuts, fruit, bread and fried eggs which seemed to get cold quite quickly. Add to the fact that the coffee was all out of a machine and i was left wondering where the money was being spent as the offerings weren't terribly inspiring.
The free WiFi was a reasonable speed and the complimentary shuttle to the airport was also a good option; however, this needs to be booked in advance at specific times so make sure you secure your spot sooner rather than later.
For the price paid i would have expected just a little more from the property and in the very least some recognition of being the highest tier of their own rewards program, but this is why there are other options in the area which I will most likely consider when next transiting Barcelona. less

I appreciate your review and all the information that you kindly provide about your recent stay in our hotel and I wish to express my gratitude to you for the immense practical information that it gives. As we have already pointed out in a number of occasions our main purpose is to maintain satisfactory levels of quality in all our services. I feel I should briefly point out that the hotel now is in a process of improvement and renovation that will affect all our rooms and services, among them will be the identification and recognition to our most loyal customers. We feel sorry for not being brilliant with your Best Western Diamond Status recognition. We apologize for this. However, in this aspect we already offer to our guests welcome gifts such as: a glass of cava on arrival, or a station with water with -or without- natural essences, and fruits as apples, all this being at our guests’ disposal at the lobby. As well as a free range of coffee and tea in all our rooms.
Mr Neil, we are driven by a clear vision and solid purpose and is to stay motivated and engaged with all our customers and to give the best of the services to all of you. For this reason, I really appreciate your comments.
