Convenient location & fair prices. Breakfast bar a nice bonus.
Our stay here would have been a solid 4-star, but our particular room reeked of cigarette smoke, even though the door was marked as a non-smoking room. We had to keep the HVAC on pretty high to circulate enough air in the room to vent some of the odor. The hotel seemed pretty full, so we did not try to get a different room; which in retrospect was a mistake. The room was located in the northern corner of the north building, closest to Hwy 101, yet the traffic noise was surprisingly mild until you opened the door, at which point the noise and exhaust fumes from the road were strong. The lobby staff was polite and helpful and the common areas were clean and modern. The indoor pool and Jacuzzi looked pretty inviting, but we did not partake. The breakfast bar was a nice plus, like other Best Westerns, offering a variety of hot and cold entrees, including scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, bagels, toast, danishes, waffles, cereals, yogurt, fruits, juices, milk, & coffee. The price of our stay was reasonable and the location was within convenient walking distance to the downtown restaurant corridor and the farmer's market held Wednesdays on Central Avenue. We may stay here the next time we visit Coos Bay, but we'll definitely ask to switch rooms if we get another smokey one. less
