On a road trip in the Black Hills in early October and decided to stay here as we had had a good Best Western experience earlier in the week. Not so lucky here, although the price was reasonable (around $70).
We were in room 106, which, as a couple of other reviewers have described, was in the corner near the bar/casino and restaurant. It shared an entryway with room 107 and when the guest staying there left his room at the same time I did, we had to juggle closing doors and getting out of each other's way. Outside door was also difficult to open with the card key.
Our room was adequate and clean, with a king bed that was comfortable. Television, refrigerator and decent bedside reading lights. Basic toiletries in the bathroom, which was fairly small, and towels were reasonable.
The attached restaurant/diner was obviously a local hangout. We had a light lunch and then an early dinner there. Service was friendly and reasonably efficient, although one party left as they were in a hurry, as did another couple, but that was due to no gluten-free options. Haven't had liver and onions in ages, and it was pretty good, although too much food (first world problem). Decided we would go elsewhere for breakfast the morning we left.
Location suited us as we were not interested in the gambling activity on Main Street. A good 15 minute walk into town, but the free trolley service stopped at the motel every half hour. Would imagine this is a much quieter location in the height of the tourist season.
To sum up - very average, but quiet, rooms, friendly and efficient employees, and good value for money. I would not seek it out again, but certainly would not hesitate to stay if necessary. less
