I booked this on a Living Social deal for a night away with my Mum. The price we paid was very good for Prosecco on arrival, bed, breakfast, and evening meal. However, on arrival we were told they would just give us a drinks voucher and we could redeem for any drink, including the glass of Prosecco - this was not the case when we got to the bar that evening!
Also, the food was quite poor...we were given a set menu to choose from. I chose the duck breast at £18:50, and Mum went for crispy salmon at £16:00. The 'breast' of duck was 2 x 2 inch pieces of duck, one of which was too chewy to swallow, and there was certainly no 'crispy' to the salmon. We also ordered a 'medley of vegetables' on the side at £3:25 which was 2 cauliflower florets and 3 carrots - bit limp and tasteless. I know it is always difficult to please everyone with food but this was really quite poor. Other diners were choosing from the Bar Menu which seemed to yield better portions and looked far more appetising. For what we paid we wouldn't complain, but if it's not feasible to produce a good meal for the price then adjust the deal given with Living Social...
Breakfast was also just as disappointing, so we had toast and ate out later.
On the plus side, the hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Beds were really comfortable and room was lovely and quiet. The position was good as just a few miles from Tatton Park, and around 30 minutes away from Port Sunlight which we really wanted to visit.
Would visit again if the food improved. less
