It appeared management decided to leave for the weekend without making sure everything was in order.
They left an inexperienced person manning the front desk over the holiday weekend. I wasn’t able to get fully checked in right away as a result and had to follow-up, but in the end everything was worked out.
Saturday at 6:30 AM, we went to the lobby to get coffee, and they were out. How can you be out of coffee at the start of the morning?
Breakfast was also non-existent consisting of packaged muffins, danishes, yogurt, and fruit cups. COVID was the excuse, but I’ve seen other hotels provide an adequate breakfast while working around COVID. We had to go across the street to get something to eat.
Despite this, the staff were friendly.
If it weren’t for free money I had from a prior promotion from previous stays, I would have chosen one of the other area hotels. It isn’t a bad place, but there were several other hotels in the vicinity at around the same price that were much better, some that offered a full suite. Apparently, everyone else knew this since there were only five cars in the parking lot overnight, one of which was ours and another the employee on duty.
First, a basic room was two queen beds for $99. To get the king, it was $108. Fortunately, the king was available at the government rate for $96, which I utilized. The rate really needs to come down about $25 to $30.
Secondly, the room I got wasn’t anything like it was pictured on the website. I thought I was getting a large room with several chairs and table with a vaulted wooden ceiling. My room, while apparently recently remodeled and in excellent condition, was a rather spartan room with a small desk, chair, and a small stool.
As I said, it isn’t a bad place, but it isn’t worth what they’re charging. Looks like an old motel from the outside but still in good condition. Our room had been remodeled as well as the hallways. They had what appeared to be a very nice pool area with wooden vaulted ceilings, closed for COVID, looked a little dated, but still very nice.
As far as the rest of the room, the mattress was hard. It had a rather large refrigerator and microwave. The TV selection was excellent although the active channels were scattered all over the place requiring you to pass through huge blocks of channels they didn’t subscribe too. The bathroom was extremely small with the vanity located outside of it, enabling one person to shower or use the toilet in private while another can use the sink. There was a very small closet nook with a safe. Aside from an open and apparently missing bathroom exhaust fan, the room was in excellent shape. less
