This hotel is exceptionally located - a 5 minute walk (through busy, lively streets) from St Michel where the RER train from the airport dropped me. Great shopping, nightlife and views within easy walking distance.
Everything inside is a little dated - tiny old-fashioned lift and narrow steep stairs - but impeccably clean. My room was small, barely fitted a double, and I was glad i was travelling alone. But that's to be expected bang in the centre of a very old European capital city. No air con - but two big windows to open for air. The view out the window was non-existent (literally about 2 feet away from the blank wall of the next tall building) but this meant it was peaceful at night, which I needed as I was in town for work. I suspect rooms at the front of the building would be noisy as there were buskers and lots of people enjoying the area late at night.
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, with excellent water pressure for showers. I found reception staff perfectly polite, and happy to speak in English or French depending how tired I was! The room was cleaned beautifully every day. I skipped breakfast, as €12 is a lot and there are wonderful cafes at every turn in this area, where you can eat more cheaply.
If I'm back in Paris I'd stay here again, happily. less
