I had to pleasure of staying at this comfortable, well run 3* hotel from Friday 10 – Monday 13 April. I was attending a wedding at the next door hotel, The Hotel by the Lake, which is was also excellent and I really enjoyed the wedding.
During my stay at The Glenridding I was made to feel welcome from when I first entered the premises; took me a while to realise there were different floors, however I quickly managed to find the reception and was given my room key. The bed was comfortable and the room clean.
My stay included breakfast and I also treated myself to an evening meal in the hotel restaurant. I was on my own for the wedding and it is not always easy to eat by yourself, however I had a wonderful waiter who made me feel most welcome and ensured I had everything I wanted to enjoy my meal. The food was excellent and very well presented.
Before my breakfast on the final morning I was sitting outside and all of a sudden the waiter who had been my waiter for breakfast and evening meal showed up with a coffee, well presented on a tray with the milk and sugar – he knew I liked my coffee - he didn't have to do this! So I would like to mention this waiter by name as he really deserves good praise from a very appreciative person, thank you Ionut Ciobotaru, I wish you every happiness and success for the future.
However, although I have talked about the waiter a lot, although I don’t know them by name, everyone who I had dealings with were pleasant and helpful, including the room cleaner, receptionists, and not forgetting the young who worked in the adjoining coffee shop and who fixed my glasses after the lens came out, she also searched (and found) the small screw that had fallen on the carpeted floor – no mean task. Thank you.
I wished I lived nearer as I would visit this area every weekend, however, I sincerely hope I get the chance to stay at the Glenridding again.
Do check out your mobile provider though as there is only one provider in the village and sometimes the WiFi can be a bit hit and miss. less
