Owner Response
ElizabethGlenridding, General Manager at Best Western Glenridding Hotel, responded to this review
I would like to respond to your very vague and unjustified review.  Firstly,  you say you booked an early check in, you came to check in at 11.30am (when check out is 11am) demanding to check in, Insisting that you booked it through booking.com. booking.com is a third party booking site, they cannot and will not grant you an early check in. They may send a request through (they didn't for your booking). Early check in cannot be guaranteed as our purpose has an hotel is to sell rooms, and on the day of your arrival the guest was still to vacate the room you were insisting to check in to. 3pm check in is an industry standard so I'm unsure why this would cause you disappointment. In our Garden Room Restaurant it is a reservation only restaurant it is open from 6pm to 9pm so why you had to cut your walk short is a little confusing for me as you started your walk at 11.30 am to aira force just 3miles away and you decided to book for 7.30pm that was your choice we didn't give you that time yet you feel you need to point the finger for  yet another decision you had made. I have to giggle when I read misinformation that is written for affect 'only 3 people in the whole hotel' how did you manage to come up with this conclusion? Its like saying 2+2=11. You say the food was poor yet you didn't actually try the food, you were annoyed that the bottle of pinot noir you ordered was £34 and it had a screw cap, not even tasting the wine, you were fixated by the fact a wine that price should be a cork . A cheap wine is a cheap wine, Good wines do come in screw caps now (shock-horror) so for you to scream at my collegue 'i work for Tripadvisor' to try and make that sudden bottle of pinot noir become a cork bottle and not a screw cap was just impossible we are not magicians even if sometimes we really wished we were. At that point you left the restaurant got in your car reversed and bumped another car on the way out. On your check out day you had to be reminded at 12.30pm that check out was 11am again you argued the point that check out was 3pm, on check out your partner threw his wallet onto the desk and after paying literally ran out of the hotel. Throughout your stay you continously challenged every policy including calling the night manager at 3am saying you were locked out when you were actually in your room, to turning up for breakfast 30minutes after it had closed. What a mess the world would be in if everybody did that.   Best wishes
