We picked this hotel for a 3 night stay as we wanted to explore Suffolk and the only Best Western which subscribed to the Tesco Clubcard scheme appeared to be this one. Overall, the hotel was clean and the beds reasonably comfortable. We were given a 'Family Room' (which had 3 beds) as past usage of Best Western hotels had entitled us to a 'Superior' room but, since this was unavailable due to the hotel being otherwise fully booked, we were given the Family Room as it had more space than a 'Standard' room. This room was in a separate block to the main hotel building, but just across a small courtyard. Room was very quiet most of the time, although you could occasionally hear voices from the next room, through an adjoining doorway. Breakfast was plentiful and god quality, restaurant food in the evening was ok, but the chef had a tendency to overcook his meat at each meal. For instance, a steak requested as 'medium to well', came out as so well done the edges were quite dry and a little tough. This didn't make it inedible so I didn't complain, but I would have preferred it rather less 'done'.For those who appreciate wine with their meals, the wine list was very small and the choices quite poor. With regard to the staff, I have read a few negative comments about the staff on other reviews, but from our experience, the staff were very friendly and eager to please, particularly Vilja. One final comment regarding the bar area, which has only seating for 2 tables of 2 people. One night a party of 4 had taken all the seats and put them at one of the 2 tables, which meant we had to sit on our own in the restaurant, for oour pre-dinner drinks. It would have been better if the hotel could have brought out a couple of extra chairs in the bar. less
