This may have been isolated to the one room, but our friends in other rooms had different issues with their stay.
As soon as the tap was run in the bathroom sink, there was an instant smell of sewage. It was disgusting! We were having to use the tap in the bath for washing hands, brushing teeth, etc. I'm no plumber, but I have never smelt a sink waste smell like that. I got an apology from staff when leaving, but as we were in a rush, we didn't stay too long after, thus didn't get anymore than that.
The pipes also were quite noisy, making some very strange sounds - bubbling and what sounded almost like droplets in a pond, for example.
Further to this, the bed was extremely firm, the corners of the room showed signs of damp, the wallpaper was peeling in places and the carpet was not entirely clean. Worse though was the towel that was not well laundered at all and actually had dry blood on it! A spot, maybe a bit bigger, but certainly made neither of us want to use it.
Breakfast was not great, by far, but while that's personal preference, the incredibly sticky table dominated the experience.
Redeeming features... not that many, but the room was a really good size and the shower was quite powerful.
For the price, you could say a few quirks are expected, but we stayed at the Premier Inn down the road for less and that, though not perfect, had almost no downsides. less
