I was waiting to write this review as I felt so strongly about our stay that I wrote to the CEO of Best Western Hotels. However that was two weeks ago and he hasn't bothered to respond to my letter - I am very disappointed! We have stayed in BW premise in New York, Reims and Cambridge and they have all been really good. I have a BW rewards card and have often been upgraded.
I usually do my homework on Hotels before I stay but my nephew was getting married and having his reception here so I didn't - big mistake. We booked some eight months in advance and I asked for the best rooms for both myself and my parents. We were told the executive rooms were the nicest - which is what we booked.
We were looking forward to our two night stay and my nephews wedding. After a 5 hr drive we arrived at 2.30PM and were told we couldn't go to our rooms as they were not ready. We walked into Liverpool and later returned. We were shown to the basement to two dark, dingy rooms - they were awful the window was glazed and behind it was a wall. The only thing going for it was it was clean. We complained and were told they were no other rooms available, the rooms manager made us feel it was our fault and was very rude. We were shown to some rooms that were "suddenly" available and after walking up and down stair cases (no lifts) through corridors that were dark and dingy and smelt stale, we both ended up in a standard room as they were bigger and lighter and had a window you could see through! Although very shabby we accepted as we were all tired and hungry. We were offered the opportunity to move to a superior room the next day but as my nephews wedding was at 10.15AM it was too inconvenient to pack up luggage etc. and be ready for the Wedding so we turned the offer down. The bed was uncomfortable, there were no bed side tables and the bathroom was very old with dirty tiles and floor. I consider staying in a Hotel a treat and this certainly wasn't. Breakfast was disgusting and on the second morning we ate in town although breakfast at the hotel was included. My parents had a dreadful nights sleep as they were right next to an air conditioning unit and ended up moving the next day to a superior room which was excellent - this is the standard we had expected in the first place! We later found out that these were the only 6 newly refurbished rooms in the Hotel.
Getting away without the kids is a treat and this was an endurance!
The Best Western Hotels I have stayed in have been very good, but if you are coming to Liverpool I would avoid stayng here! There are many good budget Hotels nearby - like the Premier Inn and various others so take my advice and stay somewhere else!
The taxi driver who took us to the registry office said it was a hotel he would not recommend to anyone (and I'm being polite in the translation) - he's not wrong!
Liverpool is a lovely City and I would visit again but never stay at the Feathers ! less
