Had a super refreshing getaway with my baby at the Best Western in Galena.
The Crystal Cave was really really cool. There was an awesome hot tub with colored changing lights and like champagne bubbles from the bottom and jets. There was a sauna, a fireplace, and a totally snazzed out shower with rain and multiple jets. The only thing missing in this room was wifi. Which is cool if you are trying to escape the world but not if you are Netflix junkies like us. The staff Christina and Josh were super kind and tried their darnedest to get it to work, to no avail. I woke up super early and went to the lobby to check email and Facebook and met the night watchman Fritz. What a cool dude, he share his theory on why we didn't have wifi that totally made sense, to me at least. So the next night we went to the Hearts Delight.
Hearts Delight was cute all pink and there was a cool heart shaped jetted tub and lit stars above it and the bed. And wifi yippee! We were able to watch a couple movies in it. So nice. It also had a fireplace. Overall kinda low key compared to the Cave.... our adventure the next night was the Pearl of the Sea.
Pearl of the Sea... omg! Oh it was soooooooo nice. Lit in blue, awesome hot tub and fancy shower was ahmazing! There was a fish tank here instead of a fireplace and the fish were so nice, a couple even introduced themselves. The algae eater was Bob and one of the tangs was Fred. They watched us shower and hang in the hot tub and sleep and stuff. They were great. We friggin loved that room. Hard to leave. The wifi was a little spotty, hokey pokey style... but whatevs we had our new fish friends.
The beds in each room were comfy and the breakfast was good, hey anytime I get fed somewhere as part of a stay I'm happy.
Only thing that was a little off other than the wifi issues was the wet smell in the cave and heart rooms. The pearl was too new... I think the carpet may be holding water, a textured tile to prevent slipping may have been better, but I take my essential oil diffuser with me anywhere I stay anyway. Plus it had back doors so we were able to open the door and air it out.
Other than that... man what a great treat... the staff was so kind. So so kind. I'd give our stay a 5 totally. Wish it was closer but we will definitely return in the future.
