I was in the city to visit the University of Sheffield, where the campus is right in the city centre. The hotel is barely a 10 minute walk from the uni, the train station and has the tram station right outside. There's a theatre and several pubs nearby too, which is great for evening activities, but not so fantastic for your sleep. The windows were high and didn't close, so any and all noise made by the road, party-goers and tram came into the room. (Admittedly, I did stay on a Friday night, which was possibly the worst decision for a quiet night.) Ear plugs are a must!
The facilities were fine and I had no issues with the sheer number of tea packets, which was a delight. The sinks were outside of the bathroom which did seem a little odd, however it didn't cause any issues. The shower itself was high pressure, hot and big enough for me to turn around and not bash my rather pointy elbows in; I'd quite happily take the shower back home with me.
I didn't have breakfast at the hotel, so can't speak for the food, but the bar was well-stocked and I was served very quickly. The staff were very helpful in giving me information and directions around the immediate area of the city. I'd definitely stay for another short stay, but would venture further afield for anything more than a single night - the noise is too loud for a good, deep sleep. less
